f) In Chile, a person can serve as president for two 4-year terms, but not consecutively. Piñera, a conservative, was president from 2010-2014 and currently from 2018 to present; his predecessor, Michelle Bachelet, a socialist, served as president from 2006-2010 and from 2014-2018. Piñera won with 54% of the vote in 2018 against his opponent, a member of his predecessor’s [Bachelet’s] party.
