1. According to Cal Thomas:
a) What is the reason we should remember 9/11?
b) Why didn't we see 9/11 coming?
2. In paragraph 8, Mr. Thomas says: "Sept. 11 should not be remembered for maudlin, ghoulish and certainly not for nostalgic reasons. Unlike those other mostly forgotten or no longer observed dates, this one is key to defending ourselves from a future attack and further disasters." What do you think he means by this?
3. Ask a parent to read Mr. Thomas' commentary and give his/her reaction. Do you share the same opinion?
4. Do you think your school/community remembers 9/11 in an appropriate manner? Explain your answer.
