1. President Trump announced in his Inaugural address that he will rename the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.

Later on Jan. 20, 2025, President Trump issued an Executive Order “Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness” which reads in part that it will “rename as the ‘Gulf of America’ the U.S. Continental Shelf area bounded on the northeast, north, and northwest by the States of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida and extending to the seaward boundary with Mexico and Cuba in the area formerly named as the Gulf of Mexico.”

3. The name Mount McKinley, will be restored to the highest mountain peak in North America, which is in Alaska. (President Obama had renamed it Denali.)
The section of the Executive Order reads: “And we will restore the name of the great President William McKinley to Mount McKinley, where it should be and where it belongs.”
