WARNING TO STUDENTS: News reports from the media sources Inkstone or SCMP (South China Morning Post) are biased in support of the Communist government of China. The bias is subtle, but can form your opinion if you are not familiar with a topic - including pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong. CHALLENGE: Read an April 30th article posted soon after the extradition law was announced and the protests began: "Thousands march in Hong Kong against extradition law" (with Background on HK and a news video). Many of the hundreds of thousands of Hong Kongers who have been protesting are students. They began peacefully marching 14 weeks ago in opposition to a law that would allow anyone arrested to be extradited to Communist China for trial. The protesters had to start wearing masks and respirators as police used tear gas against them. Why do you think democracy and freedom are so important to these protesters?
