Russell Giambrone, a Staten Island neighbor of Marrocco’s grandparents, said that the soldier never lost his rambunctious spirit, even after losing his limbs. “For a while, he had these big mechanical arms. He wasn’t shy about it. He’d show them to you with a big smile on his face,” Giambrone said. “Whenever I feel like crying about my life, I just look at him and his life and what he’s been able to overcome.”
