4. Aside from attendance, what other class related activities are colleges monitoring?
5. The reporter states that 40% of full-time college students don’t graduate in 6 years!
a) If a student pays his/her own way, is this ok? Explain your answer.
b) If a student’s parents pay the bill, is it ok? Explain your answer.
c) If the student gets financial aid (free money from the government paid for by taxpayers) is it ok? Explain your answer.
6. Answer the following and explain each one of your answers:
a) Should parents track their kids to ensure that they attend college classes?
b) At what point in life should a person take personal responsibility for his/her actions?
c) If a person chooses not to attend classes, what should a parent do? (use this type of tracking/monitoring system to help their kids go to class, make kids pay their own tuition, tell kids to get a job and start paying rent if they want to live at home, etc.)
d) Do you think the rates of students skipping class are the same for those whose parents pay their college tuition, those who get a “free ride” from the government and those who pay their own way through college? Explain your answer.
e) Would you support or oppose being tracked throughout your college career as a way to force you to go to class?
f) What other way could parents ensure their kids attend their college classes (instead of tracking their movements)?
