“Obviously, we have a long way to go.”
Doris Taylor, director of the Center for Cardiovascular Repair at the University of Minnesota on research her team has done in which they managed to grow a rat heart in the lab and start it beating.  Ultimately, scientists hope to use patients’ own stem cells to manufacture new hearts.
