After the grandfather describes his nearly 3 years of military service overseas during WWII (many soldiers were overseas for a few YEARS during the war) living in truly hard conditions, you expect the grandson to put things into perspective – to not complain about having to stop life for a month to help stop the spread of a highly contagious virus. Instead, he only cares about what he sees as his own hardship.
