The headlines about “Francois Hollande’s Camel” confused us at first. Wouldn’t you expect the French president to prefer Gauloises or Gitanes? But it turns out to be a reference to a drama involving an actual dromedary, as the International Business Times notes:
A camel presented to French president François Hollande as a gift in Mali has been eaten by locals.
In what appears to have been a major diplomatic breach, the family charged with looking after the creature for Hollande have instead slaughtered it for a stew.
If you think eating camels is bad, we understand there are countries so backward they actually eat horses.
