“I just thought it would be funny to see squirrels with [the toys].”
Retired postal worker Kathy Pruyn of Florida, who used peanuts and peanut butter to get the squirrels’ attention and guide them to toys placed around her yard. She then photographed the squirrels near the toys. “I fed the squirrels after they fell out of a nest and when I released them they still came back to my garden for food,” Pruyn said in a press release. “One day I was just going through old toys that needed throwing out and I just thought it would be funny to see squirrels with them.”
"Getting the squirrel to do what I hope it will do is really a matter of timing and patience. The picture of the squirrel with the microphone for example - I was lucky I got the picture I wanted after a few minutes because he ended up biting off the end of the microphone and taking it with him.
